The EDA Consortium (EDAC) Market Statistics Service (MSS) announced that the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry revenue increased 6.3% for Q2 2014 to $1757.9 million, compared to $1653.4 million in Q2 2013.

Sequential EDA revenue for Q2 2014 increased 0.7% compared to Q1 2014, while the four-quarters moving average, which compares the most recent four quarters to the prior four quarters, increased by 5.8%.

PCB layout begins with a schematic. The schematic can be a simple paper drawing on simple boards or captured in a CAD program for more complex boards. The connections on the PCB should be identical to the schematic, but while the schematic is arranged to be readable, the PCB layout is arranged to be functional. As a result, there is rarely any visible correlation between the schematic and the layout.
